Content Philosophy

At Vertical Health, our mission is to provide the highest quality health information available on the web.  We believe that for health content to achieve high quality, it must be authoritative, trustworthy, comprehensive, balanced, timely, relevant, and accessible.

Authoritative:

All content is written and reviewed by leading healthcare professionals.  Over 51% of the published peer reviewed papers in spine journals this year, were authored or co-authored by SpineUniverse editorial board members.

Trustworthy:

Vertical Health's sites abide by the HON code and URAC principles for health information, and we are building all our sites to the highest standards possible for online health information.  From privacy protection to advertising policies, we are committed to being a trustworthy leader in online health.

Comprehensive:

Our vertical focus affords us the ability to cover a category in greater depth and breadth than most online health resources.  For example, we have over 30 articles on spondylolisthesis alone.

Balanced:

For many conditions, there is more than one treatment paradigm.  Different physicians have different opinions on standard of care.  As a quality source of health information, we are obligated to cover diseases based on multiple treatment paradigms.  While we believe in evidence-based medicine, we also understand there is a place for alternative treatments, and we have a responsibility to present such information to our community.

Timely:

Standards of care are advancing at a rapid pace; health information providers must keep up with the rapidly-advancing technologies and therapies shaping tomorrow's care.   Our communities rely on us to have the most up-to-date and authoritative information available.

Relevant:

Vertical Health recognizes that each individual, whether patient or professional, comes to us with a unique question and information need.  It is our responsibility to deliver the most appropriate content possible to the information-seeker.  We should also make recommendations for appropriate information pathways relevant to their particular question and circumstances.

Accessible:

While it's great that we have developed a best-in-class library of content, the content fails if it's not found and used by those who need it.  We are more than just an online publisher:  we publish quality health content, whether it's online or in a patient education brochure, thereby reaching our patient and professional communities in ways that work best for them.   We are also developing accessibility mechanisms that will allow our special communities to interact with our content in ways appropriate for their challenges and disabilities.
